All people react differently to a hornet’s sting. For some, the reaction won’t be that bad, just painful. For others, if they receive multiple stings, it can lead to death. Step 3: Wipe the stung area with a washcloth with hot or cold water. Once this is done, wrap the ice cubes or the block of ice with the washcloth and apply it to the stung area. Leave it there for at least 15 minutes. The cold will relieve some of the swelling and reduce inflammation.

Step 4: After you remove the ice, observe the stung area for another 15 minutes or so to ensure that nothing abnormal is occurring with the wound.

Step 5: If there is serious pain or swelling, go see a doctor immediately. If the swelling is minimal, you can apply a antihistamine to the stung area to help relieve some of the pain.
