Controlling and Deterring Wasps

When it comes to enjoying the outdoors, nothing is worse than having to deal with wasps and other bees. These pests can really ruin the mood of a outdoor party. While wasps are not extremely dangerous, their stings to hurt and in large numbers they can be harmful. As a result, wasp control and wasp deterrent is extremely important. This can be done in many ways. Wasps can be deterred by taking certain actions or by using certain products against them.

You can use certain products to deter the wasps but firstly to control them you will want to take a few precautionary steps. First off, you will want to shut the lids of any trash containers you might have in the vicinity. Wasps are attracted to food , especially trash, so make sure they cannot get inside trash cans. If you have food outside, make sure to cover that up as well.

Now the second step of wasp deterrent is to spray them with a particular solution that is known to deter and control wasps. To do this, you’ll need a few different products to combine.

Grab an empty spray bottle (you should have one laying around the house) and fill the spray bottle with warm water. You will want to add two tablespoons of cayenne pepper as well as a few small drops of dish soap
• You will want to mix the water, cayenne pepper and dish soap together to combine the three ingredients into a watery solution. Let this solution settle in the spray bottle for at least 24 hours.
• Now you can spray this peppery solution around your backyard or wherever the wasps are near. This will deter them and prevent them from coming close. However, keep note that this will not kill the wasps nor this is not a permanent wasp removal .

This was only one form of wasp deterrent product. You can make a second wasp control product by following these steps:

• Grab an empty spray bottle and fill it with warm wetter. This time add one tablespoon of peppermint extract and one tablespoon of shampoo into the spray bottle with the warm water. Mix this solution well to make sure the peppermint and shampoo are diluted.
• Spray this solution around the backyard to deter the wasps.
• Another alternative is to use an aerosol hairspray can. It is an effective wasp control measure but it is not a natural solution.

A third alternative to control the wasps is not always an effective one, but it sometimes works greatly and prevent wasps from ever coming near your home again. Wasps are territorial insects and they will not build their wasp nest if there is another wasp colony nearby. Therefore, what you want to do is simulate a wasp nest in your backyard by creating a fake one. To do this, use a brown paper lunch bag and hang it upside down. Make it into a circular shape by closing the open end with an elastic. The wasps will think that there is already a wasp colony that settled in that area and they will leave for good!
